Question/Answer
Can Government Documents be primary sources?
Yes, some of the documents that are created by the Federal, State, and Local governments are considered primary sources. Some examples are:
- Foreign Relations of the United States
- Public Papers of the President
- FBI records
Many of the Government Document primary sources have either been digitally scanned and made available online or created digitally from the beginning.
Check out the Primary Government Documents Subject Guide for many online examples.
