Question/Answer

How do I know if a journal is peer-reviewed?

The articles in peer-reviewed journals have been reviewed by other experts or scholars in the field for quality and originality. To determine if a journal and its content is peer-reviewed:

  • In OneSearch and in many databases you can limit your search to only to articles that come from peer-reviewed journals.
  • If you have the title of a journal and are not sure if it is peer-reviewed, search for the journal title in the Ulrichsweb.com database and look for the refereed symbol.
  • Note that some content in peer-reviewed journals may not be peer-reviewed, such as letters to the editor and book reviews.
