Question/Answer

What is a citation style?

A citation style is a set of established guidelines for documenting sources in academic and professional writing, ensuring proper attribution and facilitating easy source identification. These styles dictate the format of both in-text citations (within the text) and bibliographies, reference lists, or works cited (at the end of the document).

Because different disciplines use different citation styles, be sure to ask your professor which to use, if they did not specify in your assignment.

For more information see the Citations Research Guide.
